Sophia Ponté

Bio

Sophia Ponté (b.1996) is a London-based fine artist working across drawing, printmaking and painting. She holds a Veterinary MB from the University of Cambridge (2021) and completed the Online Drawing Development Year at the Royal Drawing School in 2025. She is a scholarship student at The Essential School of Painting in north London, where her studio is currently based.

Sophia Ponté makes paintings that explore her relationship with the natural world, expanding upon quotidian observations through both real and imagined possibilities. Gathering images and natural materials that saturate her life, Ponté searches for moments where the boundary between human and nature feels indistinct.

“As I tend my garden, scavenge wild plants and grind natural pigments into paint, there is a shift between the physical substance of these materials and the value bestowed upon them. They are the foundation for my studies of nature and life, two things which for me, remain inextricably connected.”
