Bianca MacCall is a painter living and working in Bristol. MacCall graduated from Arts University Bournemouth in 2015 with a BA in Illustration. Influenced by documentary film and the strange poetry of the everyday, Bianca crops scenes with a cinematic eye, holding still the moments most people pass by. She is a member of Bath Society of Artists. Key art prizes include the Under 25’s Ironstone Art Prize 2016, Bath Society of Artists Under 25’s Prize 2017, and the Alan Cassé Print Prize 2019.
MacCall created this painting using thin layers of oil. Staring with a bright yellow under paint, to emphasis the artificial ‘glow’ from the car headlights. The scene is meant to be a familiar one, being woken up from a long car journey, returning home in the evening, or arriving at a family reunion, in suburban England.
