Daisy Billowes is a Manx-based artist raised in Athens & the UK. She studied Fine Art at Newcastle University (2015) and Print at the Royal College of Art, London (2017). Daisy’s practice explores themes of mythology, folklore, and the female narrative through a multi-disciplinary approach, including painting and drawing. She has been Longlisted for the Jackson’s Art Prize and was recently included in ‘Dolce Far Ninete’, an exhibition by Vittoria Beltrame with myma.

‘she let go’ follows Penelope roaming the coast of Ithaca, caught between relief and rage at Odysseus’s return. The painting isn’t a literal landscape but an emotional one. Bright surges carry flashes of aggression, while passages of blue and beige settle into calm. As the work developed, it found its way to something coastal: a woman on the cliffs, screaming into the wind, then still again. The shifting registers of colour mirror her oscillation between fury & acceptance, eruption & release.

This piece is being exhibited in our  Well Hung Painting Prize exhibition. We will dispatch all online orders after the exhibition closes on 22 August.
