£1,650.00

30 x 30cm
Based in London, Helena Benz studied painting at the Slade School of Fine Art. She has taken part in exhibitions, projects and residences both nationally and internationally including: NatWest Art Prize; East International; A13 at the Wapping project; ACME Fire Station; Vickers Art Award; School of Fine Art, Illinois State University; RA Summer Exhibition; Jacksons Art Prize; Beep Painting Biennial, and has work held in public collections across the UK.
In this latest series of paintings, tiny sculptural forms and constructions are used as the starting point for the investigation of a painterly space between art, architecture and landscape. Referring back to the ideals and intentions of Constructivist painters, and looking forward to our world today, the resulting small works are intended to suggest monumental forms, teetering and out of balance. The application of thin layers of acrylic paint build intricate and intimate surfaces.
This piece is being exhibited in our Well Hung Painting Prize exhibition. We will dispatch all online orders after the exhibition closes on 22 August.
