Acrylic and Oil Bar on Canvas

51.5 x 61.5cm

Kirsty Tanner is a Scottish artist, designer and maker, living in Manchester. Working across paint, textiles and collage Kirsty explores natural and built environments and moments in time or memory. Kirsty’s childhood in rural Scotland meets her love of Modernist design and Brutalist architecture, combining abstract expressions of land or sky, with strong architectural line and negative space.

Kirsty’s work is held by a number of UK galleries and private collections.

Sky Form is a series of paintings capturing moments or memories of sky. Each painting emerges on the canvas without preparatory sketches. Working intuitively, the composition is built using layers of acrylic paint and oil stick, creating a sense of fleeting movement and unpredictable skies. Bold negative space depicts elements of architecture and built environment, interrupting the composition and creating an unusual sense of space and calm.

This piece is being exhibited in our  Well Hung Painting Prize exhibition. We will dispatch all online orders after the exhibition closes on 22 August.
