Colour and marks flow freely creating expression and mood, drawing the viewer into the scene. Inspired by current news media, refugees trudge across a TV screen. A young boy and parent react with sadness, stoicism and empathy to what they see. Gesture and pose reveal clues to narrative and content though the work is not didactic. Space is left for the viewer to bring their own experience of the world. I want them to question what they see. The work is humanist.

This piece is being exhibited in our  Well Hung Painting Prize exhibition. We will dispatch all online orders after the exhibition closes on 22 August.
