Bio

Jen Orpin (born Surrey, England, 1974) is a contemporary painter best known for her quiet, emotive motorway landscapes. Her work explores themes of memory, loss, and connection through depictions of the UK’s transport infrastructure, particularly motorway bridges seen from the perspective of the driver. These familiar, often overlooked structures become powerful visual metaphors for personal journeys and emotional thresholds.

Jen studied at Manchester Metropolitan University (BA Fine Art, 1996) and is a member of the Manchester Academy of Fine Art. She is also co-founder of Rogue Women and founder of A Small Space Collective. Her work has been featured in The Guardian, The Observer, ITVX, and on BBC Radio 6 Music.

She has exhibited widely across the UK and internationally, with recent solo shows in Manchester, London, and Seoul. Her paintings have been selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition for the past three years, and are held in both private and public collections.
