Laximi Hussain

Bio

Laxmi Hussain is a London-based artist whose elegant, ethereal practice explores the body, identity, and everyday beauty through a blend of abstraction and figuration. Her work balances the fluidity of organic forms with a precise, almost architectural structure—reflecting a deep interest in space, form, and duality.

Originally trained in architecture, Laxmi was drawn to its structural logic, but eventually found the discipline too rigid. Art offered a freer, more intuitive form of expression—one that allowed her to explore the human body and lived experience with nuance and emotion.

Though she’s been drawing since childhood—often on the counter of her father’s corner shop—it was after the birth of her first child that she returned to art with purpose. Reawakened by the spontaneous creativity of her children, she began to use drawing as a way to reclaim identity, reflect on motherhood, and reconnect with herself.

Her work draws inspiration from the evolving body, the quiet tenderness of daily life, and the emotional contours of motherhood. Often working at night, she experiments across media, creating pieces that combine fluid linework with deliberate incompletion—spaces left blank or unresolved, encouraging viewers to slow down, linger, and engage more deeply.

Laxmi’s art invites reflection, offering a quiet but powerful meditation on presence, memory, and the beauty of imperfection.
