Bio

Willow Stacey is a London-based multidisciplinary artist whose work explores language, power, and the often-overlooked moments that shape our social experience. Drawing from real-life encounters, overheard comments, and personal memories, she turns everyday interactions into quietly explosive artworks. Her ongoing series Things Men Say documents unsolicited and often jarring remarks directed at women—phrases that are easy to dismiss, yet carry a heavy emotional charge. By combining decorative motifs with raw, handwritten text, she creates a powerful contrast—inviting viewers in with aesthetic softness, then confronting them with sharp, often unsettling realities. Willow’s work captures the cumulative weight of “small” moments, highlighting how casual misogyny, microaggressions, and unwanted attention shape both public and private life. Her practice is grounded in storytelling, using humour, discomfort, and visual tension to ask what it means to be seen, spoken to, and remembered.
