George Melling has a Degree in Fine Art from Kingston University and an MA from Chelsea School of Art.Melling has exhibited on numerous occasions at the RA Summer Show, and is a three time exhibitor at the National Portrait Gallery, winning second place in the Portrait Award. Melling has also been awarded a solo exhibition at the University of Central Lancashire, by Lubaina Himid. Melling won best emerging artist at the Newlight art exhibition 2023 giving him a solo show at the Saulhay Gallery Manchester.

The painting submitted is about what is happening on the periphery of a photograph. This is where the unposed, unrehearsed events are happening. This is something that really triggers Melling’s curiosity. It is also where the surprises are happening, events that are playing out naturally. This particular painting is part of a series that has been made over the last few years and is ongoing.

This piece is being exhibited in our  Well Hung Painting Prize exhibition. We will dispatch all online orders after the exhibition closes on 22 August.
