Finn by Lizzie Coles

After studying Animation at Uni, Lizzie pursued a career in advertising. She later moved to Paris to bring up her children, where she dedicated 5yrs of study to life drawing at the Académie de La Grande Chaumière. Now back in the UK, her focus is to expand the traditional idea of portraiture – inspired by music, film &TV. Using traditional techniques to produce innovative, modern pieces. Exhibited with the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, Women in Art & RBSA & contributing artist in A&I Mag

This piece is of family friend Finn. I wanted to capture his thoughtfulness and classic handsome features. His personality reflects retro charm so I drew him through a lens of 1940s silver screen glamour, with modern undertones highlighted by his casual jumper and the unfinished edges. I hope the final piece is reminiscent of a Hollywood icon.
