Overflow by Michelle Heron

By Michelle Heron.

Acrylic on Panel

25 x 30cm

Drawn to a plumbing shop in South Ealing, Heron was captivated by a window crammed with boxes and packaging, “in complete disarray,” as she puts it, “perhaps used as a storeroom, overtaken by nature.” It wasn’t abandoned, but felt like it. That strange in-between state is something Heron captures with precision and sensitivity.

Known for her acrylic paintings of overlooked high street scenes, Heron’s work records the familiar and the fragile. Influenced by the likes of Hopper and George Shaw, she brings a softness and emotional resonance to otherwise mundane spaces. In Overflow, the detail is beautifully observed, from the jumble of the interior to the wet paving stones outside, transforming a passing storefront into a poignant portrait of quiet resilience.

This piece is being exhibited in our Revival exhibition from 24th April – 30 May 2025. All work purchased will not be dispatched until the exhibition closes.
