Ellis King (b. 1989) is a contemporary British figurative painter based in Norwich, UK. Her psychologically charged portraiture explores themes of womanhood, identity, trauma and resilience, examining how personal experience intersects with wider societal structures.

In recent years, King’s work has gained increasing recognition, with exhibitions across the UK through established galleries including Thompson’s Gallery, Prince & Pilgrim and Clifton Fine Art.

The Sink explores the connections between ourselves and the spaces we inhabit. Lit by the window beyond, the figure pauses in a moment of reflection, suspended between the familiar and the unknown. The painting suggests that even ordinary routines are shaped by a wider web of experiences, relationships and influences that connect us all.

This piece is being exhibited in our  Well Hung Painting Prize exhibition. We will dispatch all online orders after the exhibition closes on 22 August.
