Sadie Aston is a painter from and currently based in Poole, UK. Working with semi-transparent layers of oil paint onto linen, her practice explores the body, spirituality, relationships and the human psyche. She studied Fine Art at Arts University Bournemouth, completing a BA (Hons) Fine Art and an MA in Painting and has exhibited across the UK, including her appearance in The Summer Day at Silian Gallery, Chelsea, raising funds for the charity Sisterhood.

Where time grows, draws on the dramatic ritual of Edwin Longs, The Martyr and the choreographed art of dying found in opera. Inspired by shape, line and colour found in nature, the figure feels relaxed, and the soul becomes expansive. Beneath the visible surface of the paint lies a hidden structure, a map of the subconscious systems that govern our emotions. The energetic, upward-reaching strokes do not just represent grass or leaves but symbolise the outward movement of the mind.

This piece is being exhibited in our  Well Hung Painting Prize exhibition. We will dispatch all online orders after the exhibition closes on 22 August.
