Well Hung Painting Prize exhibition

On Thursday 9 July, we welcomed artists, collectors and visitors from across the UK for the opening of the inaugural Well Hung Painting Prize exhibition.

Bringing together 41 artists, the exhibition presents a wide-ranging view of painting being made across the country today. From bold figuration and intimate portraiture to abstraction, landscape and interiors, the selected works reflect the diversity, ambition and individual character of contemporary British painting.

The opening marked the culmination of months of submissions, selection and planning, and it was a real pleasure to finally see the exhibition come to life with so many of the exhibiting artists in attendance.

We were also delighted to announce Bianca MacCall as the overall winner of the Well Hung Painting Prize.

Bianca was selected for the strength of Wake Up, We’re Here, together with the distinctive voice and future potential of her wider body of work. As part of the prize, she will present a solo exhibition at Well Hung Gallery in early 2027 and received a £500 GreatArt materials voucher.

The exhibition continues until 22 August 2026, with all works available to purchase.
